Drug Rehab for Cocoa Beach, FL Residents

Addiction Treatment Center for Cocoa Beach, FL Residents

Cocoa Beach, Brevard County, has beautiful beaches and perfect sunsets, and also a drug problem. When it comes to overdoses, Brevard County ranks among the top three counties in the state of Florida. Each year in recent memory has seen families in the community lose about 85 people to the scourge of opioid addiction, alone. If you struggle with substance abuse, it’s important that you seek professional help as early as possible.

Where can I find help?

Legacy Healing Center has professional, evidence-based drug rehab in South Florida  that you can turn to. Many people struggling with addiction wonder why they can’t try to break free of the habit of their own. Almost anyone has heard of a friend or two who has tried the DIY method with some success.

It’s important to understand, however, that rehab consists of two important parts – detoxification and psychological rehabilitation. Detoxification is the initial part of the rehab process. When you try it yourself, you taper off the drugs that you take, put up with the difficult symptoms of withdrawal by yourself, potentially put your life at risk, and give your body and brain time to learn to function adequately without drugs. This is all that you can do when you go about the process alone. Before long, the cravings are bound to reappear in powerful form. Psychological rehabilitation, which is the second, arguably major part of rehab, includes the therapeutic training to resist and sidestep those cravings. DIY methods cannot replace the expertise of expert therapists. Staying sober long-term requires professional assistance.

Legacy Healing Center’s detoxification and rehab services offer reliable care based on the latest findings in addiction research.

What is drug rehab like?

Rehab isn’t about quitting cold turkey and hoping for the best. Drug rehab involves a holistic approach to finding a way out of addiction, which is a brain disease. Treatment begins with a thorough intake assessment, where professionals gather information about your specific case. They take into consideration what kinds of drugs you’ve used, the quantities and combinations that you’ve used them in, the general state of your physical health, your mental health, the support that you can count on among friends and family, and your past history of rehab and relapse. The information they gain helps them determine what kind of rehab program is likely to suit you the best. How long does rehab last? Click the link to learn more about our rehab duration and process.

People turn to serious substance abuse, often because of mental health issues that they may suffer from, and because there’s something about their environment that makes it hard for them to stay happy and contented on their own. When you enter Legacy Healing Center’s inpatient rehab, you are completely removed from every feature of the environment at home or at work that pushes you toward substance abuse. You are also evaluated for depression, anxiety or other mental health conditions that make it hard for you to stay away from substance abuse.

At Legacy Healing Center, you can expect holistic treatment to help you with your mental health, your physical health, and your addiction. Treatment includes a nutrient-rich diet to help you physically recover, a fitness program to help you become healthy and motivated, a meditation and mindfulness program to help you reach for better psychological health, and, if you are so inclined, a spirituality program to help you seek spiritual strength from God to help with your recovery. A personal sober coach is also made available to you after your treatment concludes, to help you understand and overcome the challenges that you face staying sober.

You work with professionals who have dozens of years of experience between them treating the disease of addiction. You can be confident that your treatment is guided by people who are as compassionate and empathetic as they are skilled.

What to expect

When you seek evidence-based treatment for an addiction, you begin with medical detoxification. As you stay in residential rehab, you taper off and quit your drug habit under medical supervision. Whatever withdrawal symptoms you may experience, from headaches and sleeplessness to gastrointestinal complications and tremors, you have medical professionals medicate them to help you stay safe and pain-free.

Once medical detoxification concludes a week to ten days later, experts plan out the steps to follow, which usually involve psychiatric treatment, if you suffer from a psychiatric disorder as many commonly do. You then move on to therapy to lay the foundation for long-term sobriety.

In individual therapy, you work with your own therapist to analyze how you came to use addictive substances to the point of addiction. You may find that you were trying to cope with depression, anxiety or another mental disorder, or, that you experienced social awkwardness, loneliness, tormenting negative thoughts, or any number of other psychological issues. Individual therapy includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, which allows you to try altering unfavorable thinking patterns as a way to alter behavior.

Group therapy helps participants interact with other addiction survivors as part of a group, help one another, learn from the experiences of others, and develop social bonds that help them motivate one another.

Research indicates that the addiction of every person affects eight people that they are connected to or related to in some way. Family therapy helps people struggling with addiction as they attempt to repair relationships that have suffered through their habit. Therapy helps them regain social support that can prove instrumental to their recovery.

The final phase of treatment includes aftercare – moving to a sober living facility, attending continued therapy, and taking advantage of support groups.
